a not too sweet jane ending

The loveable and fun Sassy turned Jane magazine unexpectedly folded earlier this month, according to a press release from conde-nast.

Eva Mendez graces the current and final issue, nicknamed the naked issue. Among the 'strip for charity' section of the magazine, there were no signs of an ending or final goodbye. such suddeness makes this magazines so much harder for avid jane girls alike. Luckily conde nast has offered all the staffers from Jane to apply to the various other publishings under conde-nast's rather large belt. Jane you will be missed and if anyone is interested I'm looking into some old Sassy issues and will keep you updated on my findings!

the origins of Jane come from Jane Pratt, the former Sassy editor who stepped down from the magazine in September.

On a brighter note, the book Dear Diary, written by Vice columnist Lesly Arfin and an introduction by my personal fav. Chloe Sevigny, has arrived on my doorstep.

I'll be chatting with y'all later!

scantily clad?

women continue to prance around in little to no clothing from their clubbing routine getups to their everyday "attention" grabbing outfits. it is one thing to be confident with yourself but it is another to exude one's sexual presence for the purposes of power and "getting ahead'. some women feel the more skin equals the sexier but what message are such attempts getting across? what is this proving? These women that are putting restraints on the rest of us who dont want to be distinguished by mere sexual elements, but rather as equal individuals. many women are finally taking a stand and strongly going against the days when the woman with the most cleavage in the room or with the least amount of clothing was attracting the most attention!

Zooey Deschanel talks on these notions in the latest jane magazine, " i'm scared for young women, because we are not necessarily progressing. People think it's good to use sex as power. They think that's new. Flaunting your body, going around half-naked and being sexy to get your way-is missing the point."

and she does this all gracefully embracing the glorious one-suit!

And missing the point is exactly what seems to be happening, luckily many young starlets are helping to change this image of women and are taking a stand! so next time you are showing some extra skin, ask why.

tales of being a busy bee

soo lets play catch up for a bit. im still in boston, working at the julep boutique and spending the remainder of my time searching for fabric and vintage clothing to reconstruct for Pieces! the whole process is very exciting but at the same time EXTREMELY intimidating soo feel free to lend me encouragement. ideas have been swarming in my head and hopefully will be executed as planned! i also wanted to acknowledge the creativity and hardwork of designers all over, i have now faced head on just some of the challenges they themselves have been though. well stay tuned y'all and i will be stepping up on my updates.

side note of the day:
did you know Chanel was the first woman to change tanning into a socially acceptable act? i bet you didnt but now you know you do. more chanel trivia to come, thanks to my newly owned chanel-yummy-biography!
