Gianfranco Ferré; the "architect of fashion"

Gianfranco Ferré, 62, was hospitalized on Friday after suffering a brain hemorrhage and passed away at the San Raffaele hospital on Sunday, as told by doctors.

His defined sense of structure in fashion coined him the name the "archiect of fashion". From his stand out tuxedo shirts and shapely gowns he has proven himself as an icon in the world of fashion. For more info check out Fashion Week Daily and the NY Times.

Here are some my favorites from his exquisite metallic-filled Fall 2007 collection.

MOMA Installation Stirs a Crowd

Dan Perjovschi, a contemporary Romanian artist, is marking up the walls of MOMA in his first solo US exhibit, "What Happened to Us?" Perjovschi with his sole tool of black markers has been marking up the walls of MOMA's gallery 85 with political and witty drawings referencing to politics and the state of America. A recent review can be seen in thet NY Times article

In addition to the crowds swarming in New York, the internet savy have been watching the artist hard at work via various You Tube videos.

Sunday Vogue tribute; a classic (brit) step in time

Eugene Vernier, one of many americans who worked for british vogue, filled the pages with unconvential and brilliant shoots of the beautiful fashions through out the 50s and 60s. His works have turned into classics and are delightful to look at, to say the least.

here are some of my favorites...

celebs, designers, and money. OH MY

In today's commercialized world you can't go outside anywhere without some sort of celeb exposure, from hilton to richie to lohan. They're everywhere (even unexpectedly showing up on covers like Nylon) and we know everything about them! Society seems to feed off this excessive celeb culture to the extent it has become a cult. We know more details about these stranger celebs than we know about our own neighbors. WHY are we so obsessed with this startlet and HOW are is it compromising society all together?!?

This celeb and tabloid fascinates and emphasizes 'beauty' and fame over noble qualities like in intelligence, hardwork and overall ethics society claims to base itself. We are dwindling our culture down to threads and threads are innovative but are becoming more and more the threads of celeb turned designer. are they replacing the fashion industry? Check out Eric Wilson's article presenting an interesting perspective between Lim verus the Olsens Stealing the Scene Along with the Store

AND if we want to focus on celebs why no turn to those with a little more character, talent and overall purpose in their life... and if all else fails flee to europe!

Rising scene in Philly, the new LES?

hipsters, the art scene and bars accumlate in New York's Lower East Side but they aren't on the only ones cashing in on the art scene. Philly , many have speculated, is nearing this great acclaimed fame seen with the tenant to tourist living of LES. But most importantly both the LES and Philly reeling others into this culture, thriving with art. Yet, many feel these tourists are just signs of art communities giving into the commercial side. But lets look at the half full side of the glass, these tourists are hopefully leaving with a greater understanding and appreciation towards the art. The rising popularity associated which so communities (seen today in the recent NY Times article ) can be used to people’s eyes into this world of self-expression in which no limitations are placed and classical training is far from necessary Instead, this art world transcends to video, installation, clothing, music, collage etc. etc. Such innovation and reinventing of honored figures, movie stars and events can be seen in Karen Kilimnik’s exhibit at UPenn’s Institute of Contemporary Art. Her work as noted as scattered art revealing an inside look of the complexities of her own story told through various medias and props ‘ranging from fake snow and blood’. Check out Scattered Stories, Shaken and Stirred and for more info. I’m trying to make my way there soon myself and will keep you updated!

Here is a taste of her and of course I couldn’t leave out Brigitte Bardot, the origins of my own name.

peddle me blue

Today was the day , i finally gulped down pride (or for the most part fear) and peddled my baby powder blue bicycle down the tender sidewalk of Beacon. Yes, I will admit a big part of timidness is my inherence of being an ultimate klutz, actually this is reason precisely. oh, how pathetic i am. Besides from my apprehension, i took my bike gliding through every crack, hill and obstacle reaching my final destination, class.

p.s. this might be the start of me emerging into this hardcore biking lifestyle, ha i doubt it though.

oh and i almost forget here are some fun shots!
